If the shoe fitsposted on 16 June 2010 | posted in State of Fashion TodayToday's fashions are mainly influenced by the big fashion houses and well known designers. Also playing their part are the celebrities from the worlds of cinema, television, and popular music. Centuries ago it was th European royalty setting not only the trend but also the strict rules to ensure their compliance. Apparently Charles VIII of France had six toes on one of his feet. Wishing to hide this fact he had designed and wore shoes with a square toe, thus setting the male footwear trend for that era. Male footwear today seems to be split between two camps. Leather boots and shoes for everyday practical wear, and the ubiquitous trainers for just about every other occasion. Though why they are called trainers baffles me as a high proportion of their wearers do not appear to be in training for anything. Well, nothing physical anyway. But that's fashion for you.
